Senior Platform Engineer

About the Role

Athenian Tech is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to take hands-on ownership of core areas of our AI-driven threat intelligence platform. This live, production platform ingests threat data from a wide range of external sources, enriches and scores it, and delivers curated intelligence feeds to enterprise customers over industry standard protocols. You will work closely with senior technology leadership to own production stability and data quality while helping shape architecture and process as the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Own deep hands-on platform architecture, data pipeline, enrichment, scoring and delivery.
• Ensure production reliability across production, UAT and local environments, owning monitoring, alerting, healthchecks, and acting as the escalation point for incidents.
• Maintain daily data quality of the intelligence feed including data provenance, scoring integrity, and false positive control.
• Enforce strict change management discipline including testing, rollback plans, and verification of every change.
• Evaluate and onboard new data sources into the platform (feed lifecycle management).
• Handle technical aspects of customer onboarding including access scoping, feed configuration, and integration support with enterprise SIEM and SOAR platforms.
• Keep runbooks and documentation current, and assist in interviewing and building the engineering team.
• Drive the engineering backlog, delivery cadence, and production readiness work.

Requirements & Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or a related engineering discipline with strong fundamentals in operating systems, networking, and data structures.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in backend, platform, or security engineering with hands-on responsibility for a production system.
• Strong proficiency in Python as the primary language for platform and automation work.
• Strong Linux command-line skills including managing services, cron, logs, and troubleshooting production servers.
• Hands-on database experience at production scale, ideally Elasticsearch, along with SQL basics; Redis or RabbitMQ exposure is a plus.
• Strong AWS experience with EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, and running self-hosted workloads with Docker.
• Strong reasoning and debugging ability, with clear written communication skills for runbooks and customer documentation.
• A dynamic, ownership-driven working style suited to a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred Skills & Nice to Have

• Exposure to cyber security, threat intelligence, or SOC workflows including IOC lifecycle, STIX, TAXII, MISP, VirusTotal, Shodan.
• Experience with threat intelligence platforms such as OpenCTI, or integrating with enterprise SIEM and SOAR products.
• GraphQL API experience and nginx configuration knowledge.
• Prior mentoring experience or aspiration to grow into a lead role.
• AWS, Red Hat, Elastic, or security certifications (Security+, CEH) are a bonus.
