Orbitt Space - Power Electronics Engineer - R&D
Job Description
About the job
Orbitt Space is building sustainable satellite platforms powered by cutting-edge electric propulsion
technology to enable long-duration missions in Ultra Low Earth Orbit (ULEO).
We’re looking for a Power Electronics R&D Engineer to join our core engineering team. You’ll design
high-efficiency, high-voltage DC-DC converters and develop the Power Processing Unit (PPU) for our
in-house propulsion system — from concept through testing in space-grade conditions.
What You’ll Do
● Design, simulate, and test high-voltage (up to 2kV), high-power (1kW+) DC-DC converters for
space applications
● Lead schematic design, PCB layout (Altium/Cadstar/Allegro), and prototyping
● Implement thermal and EMI/EMC strategies for robust converter performance
● Develop control systems for digital and analog regulation of power electronics
● Validate and qualify systems for extreme environments and space standards
● Collaborate across propulsion, embedded systems, and integration teams
What We’re Looking For
● ME/MTech/PhD in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering
● 3–4 years of experience in high-voltage, high-efficiency converter design
● Hands-on with Altium, Cadstar, Allegro, or similar tools
● Strong knowledge of hard/soft switching topologies
● Experience with PCB layout, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and lab testing
● Familiarity with space/aerospace-grade electronics is a plus
● A passion for space tech and a builder mindset
Why Join Orbitt Space?
● Work on revolutionary satellite tech in Ultra Low Earth Orbit
● Full ownership of PPU development — a high-impact role
● Competitive salary, equity options, and performance bonuses
● Shape the future of in-orbit propulsion
